01/25/08 The Filipino Monkey and Iran |
||
|
The story of the Filipino Monkey was not picked up by mainstream American news sources, although Time Magazine mentioned it only in passing.
The Filipino Monkey is a very annoying ham radio operator
who has spent years heckling U.S. Naval ships in the Persian Gulf. Finally,
well placed U.S. officials have acknowledged that the source of the recent
Iran speedboat threats “could have been a shore station" and the
Filipino Monkey is probably the person responsible for sparking a major
diplomatic confrontation after American warships almost attacked Iranian
patrol boats... |

10/05/07 Mercenaries and Money in Iraq |
||
|
There are well over 100,000 private contractors and mercenaries in Iraq (possibly as high as 180,000). Many make up to $1,000 a day, mostly tax-free, and far more than active-duty Army privates who might drive the same truck. They are politically expedient. Although nearly 800 have been killed, their deaths are largely unreported … Blackwater CEO Erik Prince has made hundreds of thousands of dollars in contributions, almost exclusively to Republicans. Consequently, Blackwater received $600-million in no-bid contracts for “security” work in Iraq… |

Bush’s accomplishments in Iraq by the numbers, with over 50 incredible facts and statistics about the results of Bush’s invasion and occupation of Iraq, comparing such figures as the daily insurgent attacks, Iraqi Doctors murdered since the invasion, average daily hours Baghdad homes have electricity, how many Iraqis attacked us on 9/11, how many Saudis attacked us on 9/11, how many millions of dollars the Saudis give to the insurgents in Iraq, how many Billions of dollars in military equipment that Bush is giving to the Saudis, how many Fighter parts are being sold to Iran… |

06/29/07 Dick Cheney – VP of Secrecy and Betrayal |
||

The secret energy meetings of Vice President Dick Cheney, attended by officials from Enron and Exxon Mobil, as Cheney’s influence helped Exxon to recently post the largest annual profit ever by a U.S. company - $39.5 billion dollars - while the average price of gas for you and me increased from $1.46 in 2001 to nearly $3.00 a gallon. And there is the secrecy surrounding illegal wiretaps on ordinary Americans, over $21 billion in no-bid contract to Cheney’s Halliburton and it war profiteering subsidiaries, and the stonewalling regarding the political firings of U.S. Attorne ys... |

Sometimes size does matter. Take China for instance. The 25% of the population in China with the highest IQ’s is greater than the total population of North America. ... The population of the United States for June 2007 was over 302 million people. And the population of China for June 2007 was over 1 billion 321 million... China has increased its holdings of the US debt to over $1.2 trillion... ... And guess what George W Bush will be remembered for? Not only as the President who made the biggest military blunder in US history - based on false and manipulated information... Bush will also be remembered as the President who actually weakened our borders and pushed to allow record numbers of illegal immigrants into the United States, while at the same time giving tax breaks to send American jobs to India and Communist China - making America much weaker in the process and making China much stronger... |

05/18/07 Punishing Legals and Rewarding Illegals |
||
|
In May 2007, key senators in both parties and the White House announced an agreement on an immigration overhaul that would grant quick legal status to millions of illegal immigrants already in the United States. Anticipating criticism from conservatives, Republican Arlen Specter said, "It is not amnesty. This will restore the rule of law."
So if you illegally entered America it is OK. But what happens if you legally enter the United States? Let’s see how the rule of law works if you try to follow that law and in the process must deal with U.S. bureaucrats. This is a story about Keith, who was born in America, and his wife Akiko, and their two American children. Try to figure out why our government will not allow Keith’s wife and children to return to the home in which they have lived for many years. |

05/11/07 Donald Rumsfeld: More than just a War Criminal |
||
|
In 1976, at Rumsfeld's urging "every man, woman and child" was to be vaccinated against swine flu. 52 people died from the vaccination; nobody got swine flu. Rumsfeld served as CEO of G.D. Searle, whose products included aspartame with possible connections to brain tumors. Rumsfeld got aspartame 'legalized' by appointing Dr. Arthur Hayes, a defense contractor, as head of FDA! Of course there is the famous photo of Saddam Hussein shaking hands with Rumsfeld. Saddam’s chemical weapons program was allowed to continue as long as he was killing our enemies. And just before becoming Bush’s Secretary of Defense, Rumsfeld served as Chairman of Gilead, the developer of Tamiflu, now being stockpiled by the DOD for treatment of bird flu. Rumsfeld owned at least $5 million of the stock. Rumsfeld earned $190,000 as a Board member of ABB, which in 2000 sold two light water nuclear reactors to North Korea! |

05/04/07 Bush’s ever changing reasons for: Why We Are In Iraq |
||
|
This week Bush has declared that he has set another new goal for Iraq. And before we look at Bush’s latest goal, let’s do a recap. Bush started a costly war to protect us from the threat of WMD. Yet before Bush started his war with Iraq, the chief UN inspector, Hans Blix, said there was no WMD to be found in Iraq. And sure enough four years later, we did not find WMD in Iraq. But wasn’t Bush trying to stop Saddam Hussein from obtaining a nuclear weapon? “We cannot wait for the final proof, the smoking gun; it could come in the form of a mushroom cloud.” Well, Ambassador Joe Wilson… |

04/06/07, revised 06/23/08 50 ways to Reduce Your Personal Carbon Footprint |
||

While President Bush seems to resist most efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions until China agrees to do the same, what can we, as individuals, do? What can YOU do? We are going to look at 40 ways you can reduce your carbon footprint on the personal level… If you care about our future, if you are a true patriot, please make sure you walk away with at least one or two simple ways to reduce your personal carbon footprint, save money, protect our environment and our country for our children, and do your part to reduce our dependence on the foreign oil that finances terrorism. |

03/16/07 & 03/30/07 Gen. Peter Pace, Biblical Politics and the Bible Tells Me So |
||
|
This commentary is in no way intended to disparage the Bible or anyone who believes in the Bible. If you take a few minutes and read the entire commentary, you will see that the following is actually in defense of the true message of Jesus Christ.
On March 13th, 2007, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Marine Gen. Peter Pace said … "I believe homosexual acts between two individuals are immoral and that we should not condone immoral acts"... Let’s examine some other elements of God's Law. Leviticus, the third book of the Bible, lists numerous things that are abominations, besides laying with mankind. For instance Leviticus 11:9-10 states: “Whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat. And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you." In other words, if you have ever eaten clams on the half shell, clam chowder, oysters, or calamari - you are unclean. I guess this means that eating calamari is just as bad as being gay. Unless you are a Republican... |

03/09/07 What is a Patriot? Is George W Bush a Patriot? |
||
|
A patriot works to defend and protect our nation and its borders and our ports. Following six years of Republican control in Congress and the White House, has the Bush administration implemented the 9/11 commission’s recommendations to improve our port security yet? A patriot fights to protect our troops, not rush them into battle based on manipulated intelligence. Do you remember the warnings that we should all go out and buy plastic sheeting and duct tape to protect our homes from a biological attack from Saddam Hussein, as many Americans were whipped into a war hysteria? Do you remember Bush’s warning that the proof might come in the form of a mushroom cloud… |

03/02/07 What does Support Our Troops mean to George W Bush? As of January 2007 there were 146,680 regular troops and about 120,000 private military contractors and mercenaries in Iraq... You have to wonder about how much Bush really supports our troops when you consider that he rushed to place our troops in harms way for a war based on manipulated intelligence and now he is cutting the VA budget even though Building 18 at Walter Reed, which houses 700 outpatient GIs has mold, leaking pipes, holes in ceilings, rats and roaches, lack of heat, inoperative elevators, ice-coated stairs and more... |

02/23/07 The Truth about the Flypaper Theory? In a speech in February 2007, George W Bush compared himself to George Washington. George W believes that he is a great commander in chief, just like George Washington. And according to Bush, he has devised a great military plan almost as cunning as George Washington’s Delaware River crossing where Washington’s forces routed the sleeping and drunken Hessian mercenaries on Christmas night.
Now Bush’s strategy is often referred to as the Flypaper Theory. According to the flypaper theory, if you draw your enemies to a common area, it is easier to kill them.
Yet, according to a report from the independent and bipartisan Center for Strategic International Studies, foreign fighters comprise about 4 to 10% of the estimated 30,000 insurgents in Iraq. Meanwhile the latest reports reveal that worldwide terrorist attacks have now increased well over 300% since George W’s attack and subsequent 4-year occupation… |

02/02/07 Are Democracies really
Democratic in the Middle East or in the US?
So let’s look at what democracy has brought to the Middle East and other parts of the world.
There’s Hamas or the "Islamic Resistance Movement” which was elected as the majority party of the Palestinian National Authority. Hamas is regarded as a terrorist organization by the US.
And there is Hezbollah which is also regarded as a terrorist organization by the US. Hezbollah is one of two main political parties representing the Shiites, Lebanon's largest religious bloc… |

The Bush Administration in Review: Jargon, Double
Speak, Euphemisms & World War III And then there are expressions that you knew, but were given new meanings by Mr. Bush and his cronies: Cherry Picking, Shock and Awe, embedding, Mission Accomplished, Bring Em On, non-bin contracts, the Decider, Stay the Course, and Cut and Run, and now the newest: Surge. So let’s go back to the year 2000. First there was the butterfly ballot that gave ultra conservative Patrick Buchanan more Jewish votes in West Palm Beach than in any area of the country. Because Jews and minorities accidentally punched the second hole on the butterfly ballot for Buchanan, the candidate on the right side of the ballot, instead of the third hole on the ballot for Gore, on the left side of the ballot, Mr. Bush, the first hole on the left side of the ballot, won by 537 votes in Florida. If that sounds confusing to you, then perhaps you better understand how it is that Mr. Bush was somehow able to become president. Of course you remember the hanging chads that remained on some butterfly
ballots because they were not completely separated when punched. These
hanging chads left even more doubt about the true outcome of the election.
Yet there is no doubt about this fact: the Electoral College – the archaic
American institution that deprives the United States of true democracy, the
Electoral College gave the election to Mr. Bush, even though the majority of
Americans – across America - voted against Bush. That is - more than a half
million more Americans voted for Al Gore. Specifically, Bush received less
than 50.5 million votes (50,456,002) and Gore received well over 50.9 million
votes (50,999,897) votes in the 2000 presidential election. But despite the
fact that Gore won the overall popular vote by more than half a million, the
butterfly ballot, hanging chads, the Electoral College, and a mere 537
Florida votes carried the day for Bush and set the groundwork for the current
fiasco in Iraq... |

Not Liberals We make no apology for being Moderates. And this year moderates have
proven themselves to be winners. The fact is most Americans voted for
Moderate Democrats in 2006, yet they rejected the numerous “Liberal”
Democrats who ran in 2004. Today’s successful Democrats have come to
understand that they cannot represent the environment, the underprivileged,
the elderly, and the minorities if - they do not win. And neither Democrats
nor Republicans can win unless they reach out to the majority… |

12/01/06 Our Mission in Iraq? Mr. Bush states that
retreating for Iraq would dishonor the Americans who have given their lives
in that country? So Mr. Bush, are you really willing to kill off another few
thousand Americans to honor the unnecessary deaths of almost 3,000 brave
soldiers who died in your unnecessary war that was based on false assumptions
and cherry picked intelligence? |

The People Vs Kathy Dent Yet democracy’s worst fears were realized when there were
more than 18,000 undervotes for the 13th Congressional race,
representing a rate of almost 13% of the votes cast. 18,000 people in Sarasota took the time to vote, yet mysteriously they did not have a vote
in the hottest race on the ballot. This is over six times the undervote rate
for that same race in Manatee County and six times the amount of absentee
paper ballot votes from Sarasota from the same population segment. |

11/10/06 Who are the New Democrats? Yes, Tuesday was Election Day. The Democratic Party won a majority of seats in the House of Representatives—the first time in 12 years. The balance is now 196 Republicans, 229 Democrats, with 10 still undecided.
The balance in the Senate is now 49 Republicans, 49 Democrats, and 2 Independents – But remember that one of those Independents is Democrat Joe Lieberman who lost in the Connecticut Democratic Primary. The other Independent is Bernie Sanders, who took over Republican-turned-Independent Jim Jeffords’ seat. Sanders caucuses with the Democrats.
So what happened? How is it that the Democrats won both houses of Congress and most of the races for Governor as well? Sure part of it was the enormous frustration and dissatisfaction with the Iraq war. Of course there was also the enormous budget deficit run-up by this administration. And the enormous moral deficit, highlighted by lies, more lies, and scandals. But there is a bigger lesson to be learned. Most of the new Democrats who won were not flaming liberals. Most pledged to be fiscal conservatives, some were pro-gun... |

10/27/06 Bush has made Us Weaker. With top Republican strategists now privately predicting substantial House losses, President Bush and top GOP officials plan to spend the final days of the 2006 campaign attempting to rally partisans and limit conservative defections with dire warnings about the consequences of a Democratic Congress. Bush and other senior Republicans will escalate charges that Democrats will raise taxes and weaken national security. Bush struck those themes in recent campaign appearances in Pennsylvania , Virginia, and Florida.
Yep Bush is using his podium to say Dems are weak, Democrats are weak. Liberals are weak, in the hopes that we may actually lose site that Bush has all but ruined our international reputation, his policies of torture and preemptive war based on lies and cherry picked intelligence have actually recruited many more terrorists who now want to attack the United States and its interests abroad |

10/13/06 Iraq and Tom Foley – more of the same. It is interesting how the war in Iraq and the Mark Foley scandal are very similar and representative of this administration’s policies and tactics: None of the 9-11 hijackers came from Iraq, there were no operational Weapons of Mass Destruction found in Iraq, there was no evidence that Iraq was planning to attack us, and there was no evidence that Iraq was sup porting al Qaeda. Actually, the evidence indicated that Saddam Hussein, a secular Sunni, was in fact an enemy of Osama bin Laden, the real organizer of the 9-11 attack on America. Yet this administration convinced the American public to go to war because, in Bush’s own words, “we cannot wait for the final proof--the smoking gun--that could come in the form of a mushroom cloud.” Compare this to Republican Mark Foley’s sexually explicit IM and email scandal. Despite the fact that · Congressional pages were warned about Foley for years, and · Foley’s own chief of staff, Kirk Fordham, reported this in 2004, · Rep. Jim Kolbe (R-AZ) reported it in 2005, · Rep. Rodney Alexander (R-LA) reported this to Republican chairman, Tom Reynolds, in early 2006, and · Majority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) told Republican Speaker of the House Denis Hastert of “inappropriate ‘contact’ by Foley and a 16-year-old page” as recently as August 2006, and · the NRCC accepted a $100K contribution from Foley, and · it was a Republican who reported this to ABC News, and · despite the fact that the Republican leadership appointed Foley Chair of the Congressional Caucus on Children – all that many Republican leaders do is blame this whole scandal on the Democrats as a pre-election maneuver. Yet the Republicans continue to wave the banner of Family Values. And in November the Moral Majority and Religious Right have another chance to put them back in office. |

09/22/06 Bush: Al-Qaeda’s Top Recruiter Julie: Yes, today we will follow the path to our President’s latest accomplishment – he has become the Number One Membership Recruiter for Al-Qaeda. The Number One Recruiter for Al-Qaeda. This is no small feat – not when you consider the fact that since Bush’s preemptive invasion on Iraq, worldwide terrorist attacks have increased more than 250%. And during the past few years Al-Qaeda’s membership has more than doubled. Yes, George W Bush, you have secured a unique mark of distinction in the annals of history.

09/15/06 Are Democrats Weak? Julie: It’s election season -- and over and over again we hear from those in power that --Democrats -- are -- weak. Hey Jay – did ya kill or torture anyone today? Jay: “Ah – no, not to today” Julie – What? No mission accomplished? No Blood – No guts – you weak wimp! Bring em on!!!
Are Democrats weak because they do not want America to be known as a country that tortures, murders, and sexually abuses prisoners? We did not have that reputation during World War II, under Democratic president FDR. We were respected as liberators not invaders – crusaders -- and occupiers. And Democratic president Harry Truman gave the order to drop the atomic bomb on Japan, and to send troops to Korea when needed. Democrats have a long history of standing up, being strong, and protecting America… |

09/08/06 Allegedly Conservative … a conservative quote un-quote talk radio host” decided to direct his a right-wing attack on Julie because she said “God forbid that the Democrats should be able to raise enough money to compete with the Republicans who are the party of the wealthy and have plenty of contributions.” … he wrote: “A lot of my Friends are Liberals…” then followed with the classic neo-con name-calling that we hear so often on the radio from the radical right’s mouthpieces. In response let me say: A lot of our Friends allegedly are Conservatives. Yes allegedly because the fact is that the allegedly conservative Bush administration has run up record deficits, with huge tax giveaways to campaign donors. They have begun to shred our Bill of Rights and our Constitution, they work to cripple Social Security, limit who can get overtime pay, they give tax breaks to send American jobs overseas, they don’t protect our borders, and these neo-cons relentlessly assault both the middle class and the environment in their pursuit of obscene profits. Does this sound like a “conservative” administration to you? … It’s a shame these neo-cons in power have tarnished the word conservative with their actions, and by adding to their portfolio such things as illegal wiretaps on American citizens, formerly secret CIA prisons, prison abuse, water boarding, torture, the use of cluster bombs on civilian targets … |
